Vibrios are defined as Gram-negative, asporogenous rods that are straight or have a single, rigid curve. They are motile; most have a single polar flagellum when grown in liquid medium.V. cholerae, V. parahaemolyticus and V. vulnificus are well-proved human pathogens. Other Vibrios are occasional human-pathogens, such as V. alginolyticus, V. mimicus and so on. Recently, more and more countries have begun to pay close attention to other Vibrios besides V. cholerae and V. parahaemolyticus. So it is necessary to establish a process to detect the nosogenetic Vibrios. In this study, the V. cholerae collagenase gene and ctxAB gene, V. mimicus heat-labile hemolysin gene, V. parahaemolyticus tlh, tdh and trh genes, V. vulnificus hemolysin gene and V. alginolyticus collagenase gene as genetic markers were used to detect V. cholerae, V. parahaemolyticus, V. mimicus, V. alginolyticus and V. vulnificus. So, a multiplex PCR assay to detect the nosogenetic Vibrios isolated from the food was built up. The results of the method indicate it is more easily, more fastly than the traditional method and can be used to detect the Vibrios in the foods.
