The rib -web part is widely used in weapon equipments, i .e., rockets, missiles, and airplanes. To reduce the equipments' weight, the part is usually designed as a thin web with cross inner ribs.Based on the analysis to the current rib-web part forming process at home and abroad, the plastic deformation feature of the rib-web part was studied and a simulation part with cross inner ribs structure was designed in this paper. The forming process was established and the numerical simulation and physical experiment was researched. The followings are the summary of main research works:1.Aiming at the structure characteristic of the lumen part with cross inner ribs, extrusion forming technology is excogitated which axial loading , radial extrusion and isothermal forming method.2.Developing 3-D geometric modeling by CAD/CAE system called Pro/E. This parametric design will make modifying conveniently, and enhance the efficiency of creating the analytic model of die's geometry. Furthermore, it is the base of the following computer simulation.3.Applying software Marc.superform ,the finite element model was made by finite element theory , and the simulation analysis came up with the rule of metal flowing and the distribution of stress and strain are obtained ,the force-stroke curve is drawn .On the basis , the mold structure and the working procedure parameter's effect on the metal flowing , stress and strain , forming quality and forming force is studied .The reasonable forming and the mould structure are achieved. The analysis showed that the pressure is lower, the effective strain,the effective stress distribution are reasonable, and beneficial to forming when the extrusion temperature is 450℃,the extrusion speed is 1mm/s,the friction is 0.1,the fillet of the punch is R4 and the angle of the punch paneling is 3°. 4.Based on the structure characteristic of a thin web with cross inner ribs, designed segmental extrusion mould for production.5.Based on the result of the FEM simulation , the paper achieves physical experiment research. The structure of die is optimized and the feasibility of the working procedure is verified.This combined radial -isothermal extrusion processing manufactured the lumen part with rib-web, avoided the disturbance of metal flow, and held the great machinery synthesize and good surface quality. The result of extrusion processing can provide the experience and reference for procession forming the similar products.
