The emergence,development,application fields,structure and production process of inorganic ceramic membrane were reviewed, aiming at domestic inorganic ceramic membrane which is more expensive and poorer quality comparing with the imported products. The reason why the inorganic ceramic membrane was so expensive was that the inorganic ceramic membrane support production cost too high, which was obtained by analysing inorganic membrane production process and the effect on the integrity of inorganic membrane by the supports. The main reason are the long production period,high scrap rate and high energy consumption. A method of reducing the production cost was advanced which perfecting the characterization system and the preparation technology.The porous ceramic support was prepared by extrusion and solid sintering, taking alumina as raw material,carbon as pore-forming material and knar clay,bentonite clay,talcum powder as adhesives. The influence of temperature,the adding amount of pore-forming,the adding amount of adhesives and holding time was studied . The primary and secondary influence on the porosity and water flux were the adding amount of pore-forming,the adding amount of adhesives,sintering temperature and holding time respectively with orthogonal test. The primary and secondary influence on the flexural strength were adding amount of pore-forming,sintering temperature,the adding amount of adhesives and holding time respectively. Analyzing above-mentioned results, the proper project that the adding amount of pore-forming is 7%,the adding amount of adhesives is 4%,sintering temperature is 1300℃and holding time is 120min was received.The influence factors on the supports properties which were the adding amount of pore-forming,the kind of adhesives,particle diameter,adding amount of sintering aid and the preparation of green(water in soil,molding pressure,dewatering regime,sintering system) were researched. The results show that it can reduce the sintering temperature and have high flexural strength at 1300℃, when taking 2% TiO2 as the sintering aid, 16.6~17.2% as the proper water rate, and adopting infrared drying technology. Improving the preparation of the green can greatly reduce the produce cycle time and reduce cost of the supports.According to the experiment results, the self-made alumina support has narrower aperture size distribution, bigger flux for water, higher strength. The experiment results can be used in industrial production. It will hasten the development of preparation technology of support.
