Low temperature co-fired ceramic(LTCC) develops rapidly as a kind of microelectric packaging technology in recent years. The fabrication of green tape as the most important part of LTCC technology is widely attentioned. In this paper, on the base of the development of green tape technology, MgO-Al2O3-SiO2(MAS) glass-ceramics was selected as fuctional phase, and the organic components were designed to match it. The techniques such as milling, vacuum de-airing, tape casting and low temperature co-firing were used for sample preparation. Effects of varies factors on the properties of MAS glass-ceramics, tape casting slurry and green tape had been analyzed with XRD, SEM, DSC and related tests. The crystallization characteristic of MAS glass-ceramics added with different nucleating agents was studied. It was found that no matter in crystallization capability or in crystallization type, MAS glass-ceramics added with P2O5 was better than that added with TiO2 and Bi2O3. Effects of heat treatment on the properties of choiced MAS glass-ceramics were researched, and the best heat treatment was decided as: the heat temperature rises from room temperature to 850℃and keeping for 1h, then rises to 950℃and keeping for 1h, the calefactive speed is 2℃·min-1, finally, let samples be cooled with stove.Effects of fabrication technical parameters on slurry properties were studied, and the best technical parameters were decided as: first milling time is 12h, second milling time is 4h, de-airing vacuum is 0.01MPa, de-airing time is 2h. Effects of the components on slurry viscosity were studied. It was found that when particle diameter decreased, or solid content increased, or binder content increased, the slurry viscosity increased. With the increasing of plasticizer content, the slurry viscosity decreased first, and then increased. When the ratio of plasticizer to binder was 0.6, the slurry viscosity was lowest, and the slurry fluidity was best. The best proportion ranges of tape casting slurry components were desided as: solid content is 2025vol% , binder content is 11.518.5vol%,plasticizer content is 6.911.1vol%,solvent content is 4962vol%, dispersant content is 2wt% of solid content.Effects of tape casting technical parameters on green tape properties were studied. It was found that tape thickness was mainly decided by blade gap, other factors'influnces were not obvious. Measures for avoiding cracking in the drying and filming process of slurry were advanced: controlling drying speed, decreasing slurry film thickness, controlling paticle diameter distribution and remained solvent in dried slurry. Through above-mentioned research, the best tape casting technical parameters were decided as: casting speed is 0.6mm·s-1, blade gap is 300μm, drying temperature is 25℃. Effects of varies factors on green tape properties were studied. It shown that the influencing factors of tape properties were complex. On the base of considering kinds of influencing factors, the properties of fabricated green tape were as followed: drawing strength is 1.5MPa,fracture prolongation rate is 10%,relative density is 95%,shrinkage rate is 20%.
