The Synthesis And Characterization Of ODS For MSPD

Matrix Solid-Phase Dispersion (MSPD) is a rapid alternative extraction-clean-up technique. Most of dispersers are non-polar bonded phases, especially those which have the octadecylsilan (ODS) bonded phases.In order to find a cheapness ODS for MSPD, in this paper, a large particle silica treated by acid reacted with octadecyltrichlorosilane (OTS) in dry toluene, then octadecylsilan (ODS) was produced. In this reaction, trimethylchlorosilane, TMCS was used to cap the free hydroxyl groups. The product was characterized by Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy, FTIR. The theorized plate height - flow velocity curves, plate number, asymmetry coefficient and retention coefficient of the product was evaluated chromatographically after the product was stuffed into a pole by High Performance Liquid Chromatography , HPLC. Finally the application of the homemade ODS for MSPD and the economical availability of the product was evaluated.Results show as the following:1. It is a simple method for the preparation of a bonded octadecyl phase which has large particle and high extent of coverage of the bonded phase.2. After embellished chemically to the surface of silica gel, the Si-OH in its surface has reacted with OTS, and alkane has been bonded to its surface. Compared with the commercial material, the homemade material approximates in its chromatographic properties a widely available commercial.3. The MSPD technique was successfully applied to the extraction of carbaryl from the rice. The recovery of carbaryl was (82.6±3.8)%. It is proved that the homemade material can be used as the disperser for matrix solid-phase dispersion.
