Quartz glass has been invented before 160 years, because of its excellent physical capability, it is a very important kind of nonmetal material. Quartz glass is rigid and brickle, it is so frangible that mechanized progressing is very hard to machining it, especially drilling.This paper has found a new technology—laser progressing to machining the pinhole of quartz glass because of its excellent physical capability.Laser progressing is thermal machining, basing on ANSYS, the finite element modeling has been built for researching temperature field and thermal press of quartz glass. Firstly, the finite element equation is guided, thermal convection coefficient is calculated, the pinhole is emulated which was formed by laser. And then, the reasons of how the thermal press and the thermal displacement produced are explained. Thermal analysis is transformed to structure analysis for researching the thermal press and thermal displacement. Building and analyze the molding are propitious to choosing the best parameter of laser progressing.Then, using pulsed laser and continuous laser cutting progressing pinhole is experimentalized to analyze the connection among the pinhole figure of quartz glass and laser's power and its focal position, then the connection curve figures are described by MATLAB, the best laser progressing parameter is mentioned for 2mm thickness quartz glass at last.Finally, the problem of quartz glass's crackle because of laser processing is primary researched. The crackle isn't found behind microscope, because the thermal expanded coefficient is very small. But if the thick quartz glass isn't penetrated by laser cutting, the crackle can be aroused easily.
