With the development of electronic information industry, all kinds of display emerged at a remarkable pace, so more and more high quality of ultra-thin glasses are needed. Mechanical cutting method can hardly meet the market demand for its low cutting quality and efficiency on ultra-thin glass. However, technology of laser cutting ultra-thin glass can not only acquire smooth and straight cutting kerfs without blur and micro-crack, but also realize cutting in complicate curves. But a harsher and demanding situation is needed when using the existing laser cutting equipment compared with the mechanical cutting equipment. And the laser equipment can’t be combined with the existing machine tool highly integrated. It not only couldn’t satisfy the demand of industrial production, but also waste the existing machine tool. Therefore, this paper designed an automatic on-line laser cutting of glass equipment with the reconstruction of machine tools for industrial application in the cutting of glass field.In this paper, based on prior summary and research on laser cutting glass technology and the existing laser cutting of glass equipment, an automatic on-line laser cutting of glass equipment was designed with the function of picking glass, loading glass, scribing,cutting glass and the coating. The design of laser device which is the core part of the equipment was mainly discussed and the methods of cutting of glass were chosen. Experimental research of technological parameter of laser cutting glass was carried out.Firstly, according to the existing production line of laser cutting of glass equipment and laser device, an automatic on-line laser cutting of glass equipment with the reconstruction of machine tools was designed and the function of the equipment was introduced. Laser device of the equipment was mainly studied.Secondly, in order to verify the feasibility of the laser device cutting of glass applied in the laser equipment, two kinds of experimental system were set up and the experiments of YAG laser cutting soda-lime glass in straight lines were carried out. The impacts of laser power, laser scanning velocity and thickness of coating on cutting quality were analyzed, respectively. The optimum parameters of YAG laser cutting soda-lime glass in straight lines were obtained. The kerf quality of glass cut by the different laser was analyzed and using YAG laser device designed to cut glass proved practicable.Thirdly, feasibility study was made on the fiber laser device of cutting of glass applied in the laser equipment, experimental system was set up and the experiments of fiber laser cutting soda-lime glass in straight lines were carried out. The theory of fiber laser cutting of glass was analyzed. And the impacts of laser power, laser scanning velocity and thickness of coating on cutting quality were also analyzed, respectively. The kerf quality of glass cut by the fiber laser and the YAG laser were compared and analyzed. And it is concluded that YAG laser is more suitable than fiber laser in the field of cutting of glass.Finally, the paper summarizes all the done work and views the study direction in future.
