Re-manufacturing technology is an emerging repair technology which appeared in the world recently, The laser cladding technique has been used in the field repairing for the axis shaft wearing of the large scale rotor. This kind of large-scale rotor field repairing includes the laser cladding and the following machining.This paper introduces briefly the follow turning deviece applied to field repairing currently and analyzes its deficiencies. On the basis of referring to the wheel head structure of planetary abrasive belt grinder, a planetary abrasive belt following grinding device is designed, which is applied to processing the axle journal of large scale rotor. The designing of this device mainly includes the abrasive belt wheel head structure design and planetary circumgyratetion structure design and so on. Though the simulation analysis is carried out to the critical pieces by applying FEM (Finite Element Method) .This grinding device processes the axle journal of large scale rotor by the 360°revolving of abrasive belt wheel head. In this papers, the structure of abrasive belt wheel head is designed at first. According to the actual demand of workpiece to be processed, the structure of wheel train, such as contact wheel, driving wheel, idle wheel and jockey wheel, is designed and arranged, and the strainer structure of abrasive belt is also designed. In the next place, infeed structure of axial direction and radial direction is designed. In the last place, planetary circumgyratetion structure is designed. According to the most disadvantageous operating mode of this grinding device, planetary circumgyratetion structure and abrasive belt wheel head structure are modeled respectively by applying large-scale finite element analysis software ANSYS.Their three-dimensional finite element mechanics models are established, and finite element analysis of their static strength and rigidity is carried out. The static analysis separately exposits stress distribution rule and the displacement distribution rule of the two structure mentioned above under their working state. According to the analysis result, an optimized plan is designed, and the processing precision is improved to the max.After improvement, integrated analysis demonstrates that, the precision of this abrasive belt grinding device reaches 3μm, which is higher than the precision of follow turning and the machining precision of domestic and foreign large scale rotor, 15μm. Though the overall designing and structural analysis of planetary abrasive belt&following grinding device, this papers Has the important project application value and has made the beneficial exploration for the design and manufacture of new-style simple machine of this kind used for field repairing.
