The natural vegetable dyes have the characteristics of non-toxicity, harmlessness andnon-pollution.Natural cellulose fiber fabrics dyed with natural vegetable dyes not only havemore added value but also have realized natural clothing. This is a good research on ecologicaland green textiles with the requirements of textile green consumerism of people in the newcentury. So the research of natural vegetable dyes benefits environment and human health. This thesis introduces the history of natural dyes and the domestic and internationalresearch on the present situation and development of natural dyes.Vegetable dyes areclassified and interpreted individual. Then, we look into the market of natural dyes, and recountthe advantages and disadvantages of natural dyes. The methods of improving the dyeing ofcellulose fiber are summed up in domestic and international researches. The chemicalmodification of cellulose fiber fabrics is put forward in order to conquer their inherentdisadvantages of natural vegetable dyes. This methods had improved dyeing a lot of naturalvegetable dyes on cellulose fiber fabrics. The quaternary ammonium salt cationic reagentwhich is stable, small, single has been synthesized successfully in laboratory. The iron propertyof cellulose fiber is turned from negative group to positive group by the modification of thisreagent. And the method has strengthened the affinity and stability of natural vegetable dyesand cellulose fiber fabrics and improved dyeing a lot.Modification part:The optimum synthetic technology conditions have been investigatedthrough repeated testing in this paper. The results are that the ratio of reaction materials(trimethylamine and epichlorohydrin) is 1:1,pH of reaction bath is 7,for 3h at 80℃.Theoptimum cationic technology conditions have been studied through orthogonalexperiments, variance analysis and single factor analysis. The results are that the concentrationof reagent is 50g/l,and NaOH is 15g/l at a liquor ratio of 1:30 for 40min at 70℃.And thewearing characteristics of modified fabrics are tested in this paper. The dyeing performance of natural vegetable dyes on modified cellulose fiber fabrics hasbeen studied. The optimum technology conditions of Radixet Rhizoma Rhei and Turmeric dyes on modified cotton have been studied through orthogonal experiments, variance analysisand single factor analysis. The optimum pre-mordanted and post-mordanted technologyconditions of Radixet Rhizoma Rhei and Turmeric dyes on modified cotton have been studiedthrough orthogonal experiments. The dyeing performance of modified cellulose fiber fabricsdyed with natural vegetable dyes has been improved a lot as compared with the generalcellulose fiber fabrics. The fastness of dry and wet rubbing and washing fastness of modifiedcellulose fiber fabrics with mordant dyeing has been improved a lot as compared with themodified cellulose fiber fabrics with direct dyeing. This indicates that mordant dyeing canstrengthen the fixation of natural vegetable dyes on modified cellulose fiber fabrics. The rareearth mordant can substitute aluminum mordant through the contrast of samples dyed withrare earth and aluminum mordant dyeing. The levelness and penetrability of dyeing of naturalvegetable dyes on modified cellulose fiber fabrics is good. The principle of dyeing of natural vegetable dyes on modified cellulose fiber fabrics hasbeen studied in this thesis. The reaction of reagent and cellulose fiber fabrics has been provedby infrared spectrometry, scanning glass,X-diffraction and the content of nitrogen. So cellulosefiber has quaternary ammonium base and positive electric charge.Binding states of modifiedcellulose fiber fabrics and natural vegetable dyes have been studied in this paper. The resultsshow that binding force between modified cellulose fiber fabrics and Turmeric dye is chiefironic bond, and besides hydrogen bond and van der weals force, and binding force betweenmodified cellulose fiber fabrics and Radixet Rhizoma Rhei dye is chief ironic bond, andbesides hydrogen bond and van der weals force, and besides covalent bond which is formed bythe reaction of carboxy group and hydroxyl group. So we can infer that the mechanism ofnatural vegetable dyes on modified cellulose fiber fabrics is belongs to tile mechanism ofelectric absorption, which is according to the characteristic equation curve of Langmiur.Thedyeing proof test is done by Berberine dye which is the single natural cationic dye in theworld on cellulose fiber fabrics. The reaction of reagent of cellulose fiber fabrics, the bindingstates of Turmeric and Radixet Rhizoma Rhei dyes with modified cellulose fiber fabrics, andthe mechanism of natural vegetable dyes on modified cellulose fiber fabrics are proved andtested. The dyeing performance of natural vegetable dyes on cellulose fiber fabrics has beenimproved a lot by the chemical modification. And the rare earth which is environmental has been used as mordant. This can form natural material products and estates and create hugeeconomical and environmental results.
