This thesis studies mordant dyeing of titanium,iron,aluminum,zinc on cotton and silk. The concentration of the mordant,temperature,time and the alkali for use are selected to take single factor experiments. We take samples dyed with carminic acid as representation and then choose the best mordant dyeing technics. The fastness to rubbing,washing,light etc. and the strength density of the fabric dyed in this schedule are tested .The four mordant dyed fabrics are tested by scanning electron microscope,energy spectrum x-diffraction and the results are analyzed. The infrared and ultraviolet spectrums of the coordinations formed by each ion and the simulacrum to cotton—glucose(starch),the simulacrum to silk—silk peptide,natural carminic acid dye,gardenia yellow are analyzed. The infrared spectral atlas shows that after coordination the absorption apexes of coordination group have changed in shape,intensity,position or even disappeared. The ultraviolet spectral atlas shows that after coordination the intensity of the characteristic absorption apex has increased and the position moved to red area. Results indicate the metal ions have coordinated with thereinto glucose,hydroxy,carboxyl,amidocyanogen etc. All the above are accordant with the results of the change of the fabrics in color after mordant dyeing in the experiments.
