This paper describes the surface quench process research and application for big ring raceway, witch is used on the turret of 25mm AA gun, it introduces and analyses the production procedure, especially, the surface intensifying process for ring raceway. After analyses and test, the final result is to solve the difficulties on the heat treatment in the production practice, and to guarantee the product quality. Although, this technology is a mature technology, the process is much difficult to practise, on other hand, it is required to have high accuracy for assembling the turret which will bear a great load in use, the characters stated above determine the variety of process plan, and complexity of process design and performance.This thesis researches the surface intensifying technology and its application on the ring raceway of small caliber gun turret. Since its complex manufacture process and close relevancy between each process, this thesis analyzes all sides from material selection, manufacture and heat treatment for surface intensifying. It emphasizes the heat treatment for surface intensifying. After test, trail production, the technology problem has been solved, thus, the process submits an effective guarantee for batch production. Through the batch production, it is testified that continuous intermediate frequency quench has the advantages below, good repeatability, easy operation, steady quality and high efficiency.The result of the process research fill up a gap in the field of continuous intermediate frequency heat treatment, it gives a reference for the similar part and has a valuable popularization.Along with the progress and development of science and technology, the application range of surface intensifying technology has been extended, besides the traditional application, such as surface intensifying and anti-corrosion, it is used in the fields of surface hardening, mechanical repair, new and composite material production and decorative material production. A lot of new techniques such as gas phase deposit, ion implantation, laser, electron beam and plasma have been adopted to extend the application fields. The surface intensifying process is extensively used in the fields of mechanical manufacture, metallurgy, architecture, ship building, household goods building, aerospace, avigation and nuclear industry. It becomes a independent science system gradually.At the end of the thesis, the laser quench is researched to a certain extent, so as to bring the laser quench into play in the next production.
