In this paper, injection molding of automobile storage box with different volume two-cavity is regarded as the research object, based on numerical simulation software Moldflow/MPI, the study is distributed into the optimization of injection molding key systems and process parameters.Firstly, to realize runner balancing, the method of elimination step by step is adapted to complete the optimization of runner system geometric parameters. Combined with design of experiment method and orthogonal layout, three important process factors, such as mold temperature, melt temperature and injection time, are analyzed to compare their effect on runner balancing. Secondly, an example of a rectangle plate is used to find variable packing curve effect on reducing volumetric shrinkage in comparison with invariable packing curve. The result is utilized to optimize packing curve on the automobile storage box. Thirdly, four different layouts of cooling channels and hoses are compared to obtain their effect on the average temperature of the plastic/mold interface and the time to freeze to determine the optimum cooling system to make the parts can freeze uniformly and quickly as possible. Finally, bevel glide pillar design, ejection system design etc. are accomplished and the reliability of CAE (Computer Aided Engineering) is proved by experiment.The study indicated that runner balancing depends on both of geometric parameters and process parameters. And the method that reducing the diameter of the secondary runner which makes the melt flow into the small volume cavity can keep flow balance. By applying range analysis, the result shows the most effective factor on the balancing is melt temperature. Then, multi-level variable curve can reduce the parts volumetric shrinkage. In addition to, the use of CAE technology shows that it plays an important role in reducing the product developing cycle and improving success in die adjustment one time.
