| At present, the problem of ecological safety in China has been prominently manifested especially in the four respects of territory, water, life health, biology. Especially land resource safety has greater significance for such a populous country as China. For land use / cover change and ecological safety are closely related, understanding the interaction mechanism between the land use / cover change and ecological safety has become in the forefront academic problems. Relying upon a overall review on the previous researches on the relations between land use/cover change and the status of ecological security, this thesis summarizes the successful experiences and existing questions of the ecological safety assessment, and absorbs the reasonable theories and methods as the theoretical and methodological basis of this study. On this basis, this paper evaluates the ecological safety of Anlu City for the year of 2000 and 2005 respectively. In order to construct the suitable for evaluating the ecological security of Anlu City, three system indicators of natural, social, economic are constructed. After testing, the scientific and completeness of the items for the indicators, i finally choose 19 items as variables, forming a hierarchy indicator system suitable for evaluating the ecological security with its local characteristics. Then, using the pertinent mathematical methods and the statistical data of the years of 2000 and 2005, I calculate Anlu City's composite index of safety respectively for the years 2000 and 2005. The weights of each items is determined utilizing the methods of AHP. Finally I conduct a comprehensive evaluation on the overall situation of the land ecological security of Anlu City. The result shows that the ecological security situation of Anlu City has been improved slightly from the year 2000 to 2005,with the regional land use / land cover changes and its spatial patterns as main factors.This article is composed of four sections, contents as follow:The first part is an introduction, which mainly elaborates the research background, the situation at home and abroad, the purpose and significance of study, the thinking and research methods.The second part is a theoretical method, which first expounds the concept of the regional ecological security and its nature and content of research, then analyses the relation between the regional land use and its ecological safety, and further studies on influences which imposed by land use/cover change on the region's ecological security, under the guidance sustainable development theories including the theory of landscape ecology, systems theory and other related, the methods of regional ecological security evaluation is being focally discussed. In this paper introduces methods of evaluation with comprehensive index; evaluation methods associated ash and PCA.Part III is a case study. The paper takes Anlu City in Hubei Province as an example. Firstly, we analyze the basic profile of the Anlu City as to specific region. Then depending on the actual situation, integrated part of experts' suggestions; we decided to adopt a method of the composite index to evaluate Anlu City ecological security evaluation.Part IV is the conclusion that summarizes the above, shows major innovations in studying and the problems that exist, points out the direction for further research.
