Corrosion Protection In Visbreaking Unit Processing High Acid Number Crude Oil

To the liquid phase part of the Visbreaking unit which processing high acid number crude oil, corrosion protection can be done by using suitable materials. For the condensation system of gas from top outlet of fractionator, severe corrosion remains happen if the proportion of neutralizer and corrosion inhibitor is not well and the quantity of which is not sufficient. After study of the corrosion state taken place in this unit and the general corrosion principle, quantity of neutralizer injection was increased and corrosion was slowed down as the acid substances was neutralized. Overall corrosion protection measures must be taken in every party which will effect the corrosion according to the principle, such as the quality of water injected in electric desalter and furnace, especially salt content, and the operation of desalter. Based on corrosion study, local corrosion will be treated according to its own reason.In order to check and control corrosion, some analysis items needed for controlling corrosion in ordinary running period were presented. And regularly thickness checking for metal pipe wall and piece testing were advised for top outlet condensing system and other liquid system especially high temperature parts in this unit.
