Flow Injection Analysis (Flow Injection Analysis, simple form is FIA) is one kind of new continuous flow analysis technology which was proposed by Danish chemist Ruzicka (Ruzicka J) and Hansen (Hansen E H) in 1975.Although it is a kind of analysis technology which has been widely accepted at present, actually it has not been valued in the practical application as it should be.FIA is a green chemical analysis method which not only has the characteristics of spectrophotometer which is selective, high sensitive and has the ability of anti-characteristics, but also has the characteristics of the flow injection analysis method which is fast ,reproducible, economic, environmentally friendly and automatic. The method explored water quality monitor online accurately, sensitively and efficiently. Appropriate conditions were contained through experiments. Automatic on-line analysis of the phenol in waste water was realized. The study has a promising application of water quality monitor on-line.There are three parts of the paper, In the first part, it introduces environmental monitoring development condition, the basic principle, research present situation and the development tendency of FIA. In the second part, the method above was used to analysis on-line the volatile phenol in the water, the principle, method and flow were introduced and the optimized parameters and final results were obtained. Finally, briefly narrates the conclusion which obtained arrives, and makes the essential forecast...
