Reverse micelles system is similar to living environment, the reversemicelles extraction is a novel bio-separation technology, widely used inactivity control and extraction of bio-product. Hydrate formation is significantfor activity control and extraction of bio-product in reverse micelles. Foreignscholars have made some exploratory researches on the above. But in ourcountry no relevant research results are published as yet. In consideration ofthese aspects, in this paper hydrate formation characteristics in reversemicelles system, the regulation of water content of reverse micelles systemand the recovery effects of amino acid contained in reverse micelles throughgas hydrate formation were researched by experiments. It will be evidential tothe development of the new separation technology coupling reverse micelleswith hydrate.Water content and stability of reverse micelles were tested byconductivity method,, the influence of each factor on reverse micelles wasdiscussed, combining with some reasonable hypotheses and deductions, weestablished a mathematical model which connected critical water content ofreverse micelles system with salinity. This work is directive to bio-product activity control and extraction, as well as the nature of the reverse micelles.Contrast experiments of ethylene hydrate formation in pure water and reversemicelles system showed that: there is large difference on formation kinetics ofhydrate in the two systems, in reverse micelles system the process of solution, nucleation and crystal growth is very short, the kinetic curves of ethylenehydrate formation have a turning angle nearly to 90 degrees. The experiments of amino acid recovery in reverse micelles throughhydrate formation indicated that: there is obvious adjustment on water contentof reverse micelles, and the initial pressure and temperature are prominentfactors for experimental results. This regulative mechanism can be brieflydescribed as follow: initial nucleation of hydrates occurs in the micro-aqueouspools. Since the reverse micelles are dynamic structures that continually breakopen and re-form through collisions, the crystal nucleus and crystals ofhydrates are precipitated and settle to the bottom of the cell during thisprocess (hydrates being denser than the reverse micelles system). As theprocess goes on, the water content of the reverse micelles system is reduced.Amino acid can be contained in the "water pool" of reverse micelles byelectrostatic interaction or hydrophobic action, while the hydrate formationoccurs it can be separated out, the effects are distinct. This process belongs tointerface control, the salinity and acidity of aqueous phase and pressure play amajor role in the results.
