Micro machining technology and current status are summarized in this paper; the characteristic and application of (matrix) micro-protrudes and micro-pits are introduced. Non-traditional machining is an important machining method. Two main machining examination-discharge machining and ultrasonic machining are confirmed.Discharge machining is based on commodity machining tools- AGIECUT CHALLENGE ECUT 2F machine tool and CHARMILLES ROBOFORM 35 EDM machining tool. Firstly, several shapes and dimensions micro-protrude electrodes are designed and machined; Correct electricity parameters are chosen; (matrix) micro-pits are machined by EDM. Machining results are analyzed based on dimension of micro-pits, shape precision, shape variety because of electrode waste and choice of process. Secondly, (matrix) aperture electrodes are machined by WEDM-HS, (matrix) micro-protrudes are machined by EDM copy; Electrode diameter and height are controlled by electrode shaking and parameters. Friction contrast examination is made among micro-protrudes, micro-pits, and machine plane. The friction infection is analyzed in the end.In ultrasonic machining, exponential shape tool for machining is decided by balancing design and machine of amplitude transformer horn. Manufacture of micro-tool is important: (matrix) aperture electrode is made by EDM machining, high aspect (matrix) ultrasonic micro-tool is made by EDM copy and electrode shaking. Manufacture parameters such as the right vibrate frequency, amplitude, pressures, abrasive are chosen. Ultrasonic machining is completed on hard-cutting materials include of single-crystal silicon, piezoelectricity ceramic and cemented carbides by using low power ultrasonic machining tool.Feasible methods of EDM and ultrasonic are summarized for machining two structures, the problem solutions are given in examination, and suggestions of machining other shape electrodes and processes are also given. Based on the demand of (matrix) micro-protrudes and micro-pits in tribological biomimetic, next research and application foreground of non-traditional machining is prospected in manufacture of (matrix) micro-protrudes and micro-pits.
