Poly-lactic-acid (PLA in short) is a kind of polymeric compound polymerized frombuilding of PLA which derived from maize starch by means of fermentation amongmicroorganism. PLA has good processing and using properties, excellent biologicaldegradability as well. There will be a bright perspectives for PLA to be applied in thegarment, upholstery fabrics and industrial fabrics.PLA yarn is the semi-products during textile processing. Firstly, the PLA yarns aretreated in the condition of different temperature and wet. Then a kind of experiments aboutthe performance of strength and structure are done to find how the heat and water caninference the mechanical properties of the PLA yarn and what the regularity is. At thesame time, the changes of interior and outside structure of PLA yarn which has beentreated by heat are to be studied.Results of the research prove that some changes about the mechanical property of thePLA yarn have been occurred. As the temperature rises, the tenacity will ascend, theelasticity will descend and the yarn's length is shorter than before. And when the PLA yarnis wet, its tenacity will ascend, its elasticity will descend and the yarn's length is longerthan before. The structure analysis proves that when the temperature is below 120℃, theinterior structure of PLA yarn changes a little and the heat resistance of the yarn iscomparatively good.
