Wetland which is one of the most important existent environment for the human beings is widely distributed in the world, its distinct property is the most ecological landscape of biodiversity. Liaoning province is the only province with capacious marine area in the Northeast China. Liaoning province has abundant coastal wetland resources, which are mainly distributed in North Liaodong Bay, Liaohe River Delta and the silty inshore plain from Yalu to Dayang estuary. These coastal wetland resources not only have important ecological functions, sunch as keeping the ecological balance, but also play an important role in The Bohai Coast Region of Liaoning province and even in Northeast China for developing Marine economy.The work of this paper is under the support of Opening Fund of CAS funded by the Key Laboratory of Wetland Ecology and Environment, the title of this fund is The Research on Liaoning Province coastal wetland Classification and Space - time Evolvement, and the granted number of this fund is WELF-2004-B009. It is well known that the traditional man-made investigation methods of wetland has the characteristics of wasting time and labor, high cost and low efficiency, and low precision, but Remote sensing technology has many advantages such as objective, speedy, large-scale, multiple-temporal,low-cost, multi-temporal, high efficiency, nondestructive,etc, which can objectively reflect the true conditions and dynamic changes of coast wetland resources .The work of this paper took six coastal cities of Liaoning province as examples, used ERDAS to deal with datum and Arcgis9.0 and MapInfo7.8 to edit, and applied the human-computer interpretation method to decipher the satellite image , the coastal wetlands resources of six coastal cities mentioned above were investigated dynamically in the year of 1990, 1995, 2000, 2002, and on this base the coastal wetland classification system of Liaoning Province was built. This paper choose some social and economic index to reflect the correlativity between the area change of certain kinds coastal wetland and the variable group of society, economy by using CCA(canonical correlation analysis) model with the help of statistic software of SPSS, and the driving forces which affect the change of coastal wetlands were analyzed, the results of this paper, in some degree can provide basically datum for reasonably protecting and sustainable developing the coastal wetlands resources in the research area.
