Styrene Monomer(SM) is one of the most important organic chemicals. With the trend of plant size increasing, for the sake of survival and development, the existing small scale SM plant need to revamp with feasible scheme. The paper sumerized the main SM production technologies.Incorporating with Daqing SM project, the process selection and equipment plan of SM plant revamp has been discussed. With the detail introduction of SMART (Styrene Monomer Advanced Reheat Technology) process , first time installed the SMART reactor in the third reactor place, over 50% capacity increasing has been reached.Comparing with utilizing classical revamp shceme, without changing the main equipment, such as steam superheater, compressor, existing reactors, the 50% capacity increasing can be reached and so that the revamp investment cost has substantially decreased.Utilzing the process simulation software PRO II, the sepration process of the raw SM has been simulated and the operating parameters has been optimized. With the hydraulic calculation of the main separation columns, the detail alternatiuon plan of the columns has been worked out. The operation result of the separation process has been matched well with the simulation result.
