This text start from testing method, design and development and influence factor. The paper developed a sound testing system for textiles or textile composites with mightiness function, low cost, definition. The sound came from sound wave device by a loudhailer, through fabrics, and then was incepted by microphone. The sound information was treated by sound analyzing software (Spectra LAB).The system tested the sound attenuation of auto interior velvet fabrics, single and multi-layer woven fabrics and woven spacer fabrics. Due to the complexity of traditional design method of multi-layer fabrics, this paper proposed a new design method (warp ways section analytical method) of multi-layer woven fabrics which were used as tested samples predigest the design and development of multi-layer and complex woven fabrics. Based on warp cross section of fabrics, the warp ways section analytical method directly expressed the relation between warp and weft yarns of each layer. Whereafter, two-layer plain and twill fabrics,three-layer plain fabrics,four-layer plain fabrics and woven spacer fabrics were woven Based on the analysis of experiment data, it was indicated that the acoustic insulation property of the velvet fabric had large relation with surface density, and the regress equation was highly prominence, the sound attenuation achieved 16dB, when the surface density of Auto Interior Velvet Fabrics of woven fabric was 664g·m-2. With greater weaving density, single layer woven fabrics had better acoustic insulation property. However, for woven fabrics with considerable thickness, good acoustic insulation property was obtained when the value of thickness and surface density were both large. Woven spacer fabrics filled with foam had better strength and acoustic insulation property, and the biggest sound attenuation of the spacer fabric with 4 mm space height achieved 26 dB. It was proved that sound insulation was also improved by Magnetron sputtering metal particle on woven fabrics.
