Rapid Prototyping (RP) is an advanced forming and processing technology that is followed with interest by researchers and manufactures in recent years. Compared with the other RP process, SLS has attracted extensive attention due to its wide range of materials. Now the basic principles of SLS has been established. To special SLS systems, it is an important subject how to improve forming efficiency, improve the prototyping precision and extend the utilization area of prototyping without extra expensive cost. Just on the basis of all above opinions, the research on the forming precision, efficiency, scanning path, post-treatment and data processing on the high molecular powder materials is preceded.The main research and results in this dissertation are as following:A numerical computation model for predicting the sintered depth in SLS is built up. The warp problem of SLS is also stressed and the fundamental cause, developing trend and settlement of this problem is discussed. The distortion mechanism of SLS is dissertated and the comprehensive settlement of SLS distortion is proposed. All the factors that affect the prototyping performance are intensively analyzed. Through manufacturing special pattern, using the variance analysis and range analysis of orthogonal experiment, the effects of process parameters on precision, efficiency, thin-wall part and post-treatment are discussed, the combination of process parameters are optimized, and the prototyping quality is greatly improved. Taking account of the errors of build time estimation, a new build time estimation model is build up, which can reduce the errors validly. The key technique of SLS data processing is researched. One kind of new support design and sub-area scanning arithmetic are proposed. The new build- time estimation model is programmed in path file software, which have important reference to externally quoting, arranging the working sequence and balancing the priority between the process efficiency and prototyping function of SLS provider.
