Moulds-quotation is not only playing an important role in getting client orderform but also comprehensive reflection of technology, economy, efficiency, market andmanagement of manufacturers of moulds. It also shows theirs strength level oftechnology and market between clients and mould-manufacturers and is connectedwith interests of the two. It is seasoned with the development of economic market todevelop a moulds-quotation system scientifically, logically, practically. Thedevelopment of modern science and technology provides new methods and ideas toresolve these problems, such as fuzzy theory, forecasting technique, computer,artificial intelligence, KBE technique, database technique, etc.At first, the text discusses the traditional characteristic, method, program andstudy on mould quotation in domestic and other countries and then proposes a newidea of putting forward KBE technology into moulds-quotation. Analyses the cost ofplastic injection moulds and its impact factors based on moulds theory and experienceinformation. Put forward a new method of how to estimate the cost of plastic mouldsreasonably. With this system, its quotation mainly depends on CBRfuzzy-similarity-comparison and analysis-calculation methods and other methods suchas moulds-base, moulds core-cavity man-hour and so on.In the third chapter, the paper remarks theory, the key techniques related to thissystem such as fuzzy theory, group codes technology, parameterized technology andKBE etc. This paper builds much consequence- mechanism and database usingsoftware Visual Basic6.0 as language and Microsoft Access as database, whichprovides many functions for the quotation system such as query, reference, calculationsand so on.In the fourth and fifth chapter, the paper discusses the CBR fuzzy-similarity-com-Parison method and analysis-calculation method in detail respectively. Thefuzzy-similarity-comparison method is to constitute different codes according to theproduct and its moulds and then find the similar examples in databases. Then conclude the cost of moulds which should be estimated through theirs similarity. Theanalysis-calculation method is to separate the cost of injection mould into four partsand they are core-cavity part cost, mould-base cost, basic function cost, special cost.The cost of injection mould can be calculated through adding the four parts costtogether. Different methods can be used synthetically or individually. This optimizesquotation system in a way.In the sixth chapter, the paper introduces the whole structure of injection mouldquotation system and other function module and shows its validity and utility throughan instance.In the last part, the paper summarizes the key points and gives an expectation ofdeveloping direction of mould quotation system.
