Alkyl phenol is a kind of valuable organic chemical intermediate for wide application in material and medical industry. such as 2,6-di-t-butyl phenol,is the main material for synthesizing antioxidants, new hypotensor and new anopheline;p- t-butyl phenol,is the main material for synthesizing variety kinds of dyes, adhesives and other important fine organic chemical products.The present synthesis takes o-s-butyl phenol industrial waste as starting material in the process, after a series of purification treatment, getting highly purified p-s-butyl phenol and 2,6-di-s-butyl phenol at the purity of 92%. And then taking the two comp- ounds obtained above as starting materials, p-s-butyl phenol derivate and 2,6-di- s- butyl phenol derivate obtained after a series of synthesis: take 2,6-di- s-butyl phenol as starting material to synthesize 3,5-di-s- butyl-4-hydroxy benzaldehyde,2,6-di- s-b- dutyl-4-methylphenol,3,5-di-s-butyl-4-hydroxybenzoic acid,methyl 3,5-di-s-butyl-4-h- ydroxybenzoate, octadecyl 3,5-di-s-butyl-4-hydroxybenzoate, 3,3',5,5'-tetra-s-butyl-1, 1'-bi(cyclohexa-2,5-diene)-4,4'-dione, 3,3',5,5'-tetra-s-butylbiphenyl-4,4'-diol.Take p-s -butyl phenol as starting material to synthesize o-amino-p-s-butylphenol, p-s-but- ylphenol formaldehyde resin.Furthermore,in this paper , their reaction conditions were optimized and their corresponding compounds were characterized respectively. Among the antioxidants synthesized, represented by 2,6-di- s-butyl-4-methylphenol, we tested the proformance of antioxidant and got satisfactory results.Additionally, among the series compounds synthesized, o-amino-p-s-butylphen- ol,methyl 3,5-di-s-butyl-4- hydroxybenzoateoctadecyl,3,5-di-s-butyl-4-hydroxybenzo- ate,3,3',5,5'-tetra-s-butyl-1,1'-bi(cyclohexa-2,5-diene)-4,4'-dione,3,3',5,5'-tetra-s-b- utyl biphenyl-4,4'-diol are new compounds.
