Naturally bottom water reservoirs plays an important role in the worldwide oil industry. More and more discovery and exploitation of the bottom water reservoirs in China urgently requires a study of the recovery law and the potential exploitation measures for a better economic return from such reservoirs.With the application of reservoirs numerical simulation technique, the recovery law and the potential exploitation measures of bottom water reservoirs was studied. Utilizing numerical simulation software, the paper analyses the production and bottom water rising process of sandstone bottom water reservoir and fractured bottom water reservoir, oil recovery rate, vertical/horizontal permeability ratio, oil/water viscosity ratio, the size, location of low permeable intercalation, energy of bottom water, sedimentary rhythm of reservoir, location of perforation, opening percentage and high permeability zone by building geologic model. In order to demonstrate the recovery law of such reservoirs. The research indicates the relationship between degree of reserve recovery and affecting factor. Basing on that, study the squeezing manual block board and water-withdrawing defeat cone. Optimize water shutoff opportune moment and obtain the fitting condition of water-withdrawing defeat cone.
