Eight 3,5-disubstitued-[1,3,4]-thiadiazole-2-thione derivations have been synthesized via a new ring-closing reaction with high yield and mild reaction conditions. The derivations have been characterized by elemental analysis, UV, IR and NMR spectra. Quantum chemical calculations for these compounds have been carried out and the calculated results indicate they are potential second-order nonlinear optical materials with higher second-order nonlinear optical coefficients. The fluorescence properties of the compounds have also been studied.A series of calixarene have been synthesized, which may have recognition of molecules and nonlinear optical properties. These compounds have been characterized by elemental analysis, IR, UV and NMR spectra. The fluorescence properties of the compounds have also been studied.Nine new bis-Schiffbases, a series ofbarbituric acid derivations, thiobarbimric acid derivations and eighteen azo dyes derivations have been synthesized. These compounds have been characterized by elemental analysis, IR, UV and NMR spectra. The fluorescence properties of the compounds have been studied.Triacetone triperoxide (TATP) has been synthesized by an unexpected reaction. It has been characterized by elemental analysis, IR, UV spectra and X-ray single crystal diffraction. The electrochemical properties of TATP have been researched by cyclic voltammetric approach and the results show TATP exhibits good reversible oxidation and deoxidize.
