The objective of this paper which is based on the experiments is to study the startup properties of Boxi crude oil at constant pressure. The pipe internal pressure variation, the flow-rate and the speed of the pressure transmission after restart are summed up and analyzed after the application of a constant pressure on the pipeline.The study finds:1. While the pipeline startup with constant flux, there is a least kickoff pressure. Therefore more pressure more successful for the pipeline startup.2. The pipeline startup has the delay property. Only initial kickoff pressure is more than the least startup pressure and the pressures along the whole pipeline increase a certain extent which can destroy the gelled structural strength. The gelled oil flow begins. With the same static temperature drop, the startup time will decreases as the kickoff pressure increases. With the same kickoff pressure, the startup time will increases as the static temperature drop decreases.3. After restart, the flow-rate runs up, it indicates the rapid decline of the apparent viscosity ? ap.The variation of the flow-rate after restart is a reflection of cracking property of gelled oil structure.4. With the period of the pressure transmission from the head to the end of pipeline, the wave speed of pipeline pressure isn't invariable. It will decrease along the pipeline. The transmission of startup wave delays the pressure wave.
