The influence of boron-magnesium addition upon agglomeration processes of sinter and pellets was studied in this paper. OM, SEM and EDS were used to test the samples got from a series of experiments. Classic sintering process, discontinuous sintering process, macro checks and micro observations of the samples were included in the test range. Following were the main substances of this research:1. Distribution regulation of magnesium and the influence of it on the phase composition of sinter;2. Influence of boron-magnesium containing addition on the generation of magnetite in sinter and its mechanism;3. Influence of boron-magnesium containing addition on the generation of calcium ferrite and dicalcium silicate in sinter and its mechanism;4. Influence of boron-magnesium containing addition on the generation of glass phase in sinter and its mechanism;5. Influence of boron-magnesium containing addition on the roasting temperature and oxidizing velocity of pellets.A detailed report was given in this paper on the behaviors and their mechanisms of boron and magnesium during sinter and pellets productions. The results of this research enriched the theories of iron ore agglomeration and may play an important role in production operation, process control and scientific research.
