The injection molding which can directly form complex plastic parts is a high efficient volume production way. Injection mould is a kind of key process equipment in this way. Because there are lots of factors which should be concerned during designing moulds, it is a real challenging job to designers and die makers. The injection mould CAD system, as a tool to raise the efficiency and quality of designing mould, is attracting more and more attentions. At present, general CAD systems are popular in most of mould enterprise, which have a series of obstacles in the design procedure, for example, the design information can not be shared and maintained consistently, the design process is extremely complex, and so on. This thesis tries to solve these problems by using the association designing method for the cooling system design of injection mould.The cooling system of plastic injection mould mainly includes two parts: one is water holes in moving die; the other is water channels in fixed die. To the water holes in moving die, the parametric feature-based technology and entity division method are adopted to automatically control the distance between undersurface of water holes and cavity faces of moving die. UDO-based association design method is used to keep the consistency of design data between water holes in moving die and corresponding rings in fixed die. To water channels in fixed die, the parametric design technology and automatic interference detection functions are applied to reduce design time and avoid collision among water channels. In order to implement tables creation automatically, some marks are set to water holes, water channels and ring slots through classified attributes.All works mentioned above have been embedded in the CAD package for the cooling system design, which can help users design the cooling system quickly.
