The status of the paint industry and development,the history and current situation of waterborne epoxy coating,the lately progress in waterborne epoxy curing agents were summarized in this paper. On the basis of summarization, the subject of developing a novel ketimine modified curing agent was advanced to match the new self-emulsifying waterborne epoxy latex developed by China Petrochemical Group and Baling Petrochemical Company Limited.1,A novel ketimine modified curing agent (APMD) using for self-emulsifying waterborne epoxy latex was synthesized in this paper. Synthesis technics were discussed. The structure of APMD was determined by FT-IR analysis and the thermal stability,curing degree,hardness,adherence and flexility of the cured film were examined by TG,SEM and other standard varnish properties tests. The result showed that, compared to the case of a foreign commercial WATERPOXY?751 of Henkel, the film cured by APMD exhibited better curing comprehensive properties such as short curing time(surface drying time 1h, actual drying time 14h),better hardness(2H),adherence(1 degree),flexility(1mm) high heat resistance(400℃) and curing degree.2,The waterborne epoxy resin latex curing mechanism and the formulations were preliminarily discussed. The results showed:A,The method that adding dram salt to the waterborne epoxy latex was used to solve the problem that the waterborne epoxy latex had big viscosity. Through experiments, when the adding ratio of salt was 0.0125mol/l, the viscosity of the waterborne epoxy latex was appropriate, and it had good stability. But through the EIS, this method made the water-resistant and corrosion resistance of the coating a little decline.B,Three factors five levels proportional experiments was designed for the better proportion of titanium dioxide: barium sulfate: talc that making the film exhibiting better film properties. Through experiments and analysis, the best proportion: The pigments were 38.64% of base material; The titanium dioxide was 60% of pigments; The talc was 18% of pigments; The barium sulfate was 22% of pigments.
