Sheet metal stamping is a sheet metal forming process by using molds. Stamping parts with light weight, smooth surfaces and beautiful shape are produced with this forming process. With the advantages of saving materials, high efficiency and low cost, sheet metal stamping is one of the important machining processes in machinery, electron, instruments and aerospace, etc. manufacturing industries. Deep drawing is the most typical sheet metal stamping process, which is the most extensively used in actual applications and in the process of components manufacturing. Nowadays, although lots of researches and studies about drawing process have been done, there are still some fields needed to be studied. Therefore, thorough and further research on drawing process is quite necessary.Based on the development history and current situation of deep drawing process, this paper was focused on the deep drawing process which has not been studied well. The main research contents and results are listed as follows:1. Process TestExperimental data were obtained with a certain number of deep drawing technology tests, which provides the references for the theoretical study on thickness variation law of deep drawing blank, and verifies the calculation methods accuracy of different deep drawing blanks as well.2. Theory DiscussionA novel calculation method of the deep drawing cylindrical blank with advantages of more scientific in theory and more convenient in application was put forward based on the use of the constant volume principle of plastic mechanics and PRO / E model analysis function. The variation on the blank design and calculation methods were concluded and compared.3. Numerical simulationWe can master the material deformation law and understand the influence of deep drawing process factors on the blank thickness change better by using the simulation software Deform.The studies of this paper enriched the content and the theory of the deep drawing process. A new simpler and more precise blank calculation method was put forward in the application of engineering, which providesexperiences and references for the technicians who are engaged in sheet metal stamping field.
