This paper first introduces elastic-plastic theory, including its concept, researchmeans and development. Process of finite element method dealing with contactproblem is discussed. Choice of contact elements, establishing finite element modeland contact pairs, controlling movement of the rigid are researched. The classical contact analysis and Finite Element Method contact analysis areanalyzed. Both methods are used to calculate the elastic-plastic results of a pipe whenpressure is put on its wall. The results testify that it is feasible to simulate themechanical expanding process of antenna pipes by FEM contact analysis. The methods and process of the mechanical expanding are introduced. Byanalyzing every phase of the expanding process of antenna pipes, the stress and otherparameters are get. Finally, based on the elastic-plastic theory and Finite Element Method, this papersimulates the expanding process of antenna pipes by FEM contact analysis. The nodestress, strain, displacement of the antenna pipes are analyzed. The limitations areeduced by comparing the results of mechanical expanding process in different moulds. The probability of limitations can be decreased by improving the structure of themould. It also can enhance the quality of the antenna pipes in this way.
