China ranks the first in the production of acetylene in the world. Meanwhile, huge amount of industrial waste residue, Calcium Carbide Residue, had been produced. It is a very necessary issue to learn how to deal with it effectively. Since the main content of Calcium Carbide Residue is Ca(OH)2, it can be used as calcareous raw materials. With the fast economic development, the demand of cement is gradually increasing in China. In the cement production, large amount of calcareous raw materials are consumed. However, the old production methods using acetylene sludge all have some defects. Therefore, new technology of using acetylene sludge to calcine clinker will be discussed in this article.Through physical and chemical analysis with detailed calorie calculation to the Calcium Carbide Residue and other raw materials, precalciner with preheater is accordingly developed based on the cold stimulated experiment. Technical improvements and solutions selection have been made on the aspects of dehydration of Calcium Carbide Residue grout, accurate proportioning of acetylene and raw material drying mill system. The equipment processing, manufacture, and engineering design have been fulfilled. The first cement clinker production line using the new dry grinding, dry combustion new process cement production method proportioned with Calcium Carbide Residue is built up in China.After being put into production formally, 75.2 thousand tons of Calcium Carbide Residue will be consumed so that A company's objective of solving the waste can be fully accomplished. By using Calcium Carbide Residue to replace part of the limestone proportion, at least 100 thousand tons limestone resource can be saved and the CO2 emission can be decreased by 42 thousand tons annually, which is favorable for protecting environment. The relatively old equipments can be superseded to increase labor capacity, reduce the energy consumption. Comparing to the wet mill dry combustion method, this technology can save 770kJ/kg calories (actual coal consumption lowered by 33 kg/t clinker), equally 26.3kg standard coal can be saved (actual coal saved 9900 tons yearly) when one ton of clinker is produced. Considering the calorie consumed in drying duration, this technology is equally to the new process cement production method using ordinary materials. The precalciner system with preheater is used for this technology, the furnace type is suitable for the features of the Calcium Carbide Residue, and thermal equilibrium satisfies the raw material drying mill. Four or five stages preheater is used. The results of the raw material precalcination are generally the same as those of the ordinary precalcination kiln.The production practice shows that the new technology using Calcium Carbide Residue to proportion and to produce clinker is feasible and successful.
