The light-perspiration stability of dyes is defined as the resistance of dyeings to fading caused by the synergetic effect of light and human sweat. While sucked with sweat, the textile is also subject to light. In that case, it fades faster than it does when subject to light or sweat alone. Reactive dyes can be regarded as the most significant dyes in cotton dyeing at present, the fading problems caused by unqualified light-perspiration fastness of dyed cotton fabric with reactive dyes have occurred frequently which leads to great economic loss of many domestic companies ,so the reactive dyes with high light-perspiration fastness are strongly expected .In order to meet the market requirement ,a lot of domestic and foreign dyestuff manufacturers invest on the research and development of reactive dyes with high light-perspiration fastness and some successful products have appeared on the market ,however, the new developed dyestuffs have not been widely used because of the high price .The mid-temperature vinyl sulphone reactive dyes are the most commonly used in most of domestic dyeing factories at present. Owing to three prime color dyes are the basis of match dyeing ,the stability of the three prime colors' property determines the performance of the matched color ,so it is very important to select a team of low cost three prime color dyes with high light-perspiration fastness .At present ,the light-perspiration fastness standard has not been established by ISO ,so different companies use different methods. In this paper, three methods for testing the light-perspiration stability of dyes were designed and studied separately, and during the testing it was found the selected reactive dyes exhibited lowest stability under simultaneous exposure to light, oxygen and perspiration solution. Then three types of standards (ISO, AATCC and ATTS) for preparing for the artificial perspiration were employed and the ATTS standard perspiration which contained more reductive components was found to cause the dyes to fade fastest.In this dissertation , the fading status of several mid-temperature vinyl sulphone reactive dyes with different color and relatively low cost in light and perspiration has been tested according to the ATTS standard. A team of three prime color reactive dyes with high light-perspiration fastness (Levafix Fast Red CA,Reactive Yellow 3RS,Reactive Navy RGB) has been selected and the influence of different dyeing process parameter on their match performance were studied and finally the proper normal dyeing process was confirmed.Through comparing with the impact of three different auxiliaries on the improvement of the compatibility of three prime color reactive dyes ,leveling agent NF was selected , the pre-addition of alkali prior to dyeing was also beneficial to improving the dyeing compatibility of those dyes. The investigation on the impact of match dyeing on the light-perspiration fastness of those reactive dyes shows that the more dyes employed in match dyeing the more serious fading problems of dyed fabric occurred ,in addition, the fabric dyed with matched reactive dyes might have larger color difference under exposure to light and perspiration than it did when dyed with pure dye, probably due to the interaction of the dyes matched together.Finally ,four anti-ultraviolet agents were applied in the fabric dyed with those three reactive dyes together on the basis of ensuring high light-perspiration fastness and fine match performance of the selected dyes ,and the result showed that those agents could achieve satisfactory effect ,and among them EL and LF were better. After combining the above two auxiliaries in the dyed fabric with three prime color dyes, it is clear that the light-perspiration fastness of dyed fabric increases a lot as the volume of the anti-ultraviolet agents rises till a certain degree and has little change after that degree.
