The quality tester installed on the FP is an important part of modern high-speed drawing frame. Its functions are testing and analyzing the regularity of drawn sliver at high speed. It can display the sliver unevenness indexes and the irregularity curve continuously. When the sliver is uneven, a warning is issued by a device and the auto- leveler on drawing frame works through the computer certain operations. Then the silver is improved the evenness by the auto-leveler. People can find reasons of uneven rate through analyzing the spectrum showed on computer.In this paper, quality detection system is designed based on Digital Signal Processor (DSP). When the sliver passes through a sensor which is installed on the FP of the drawing frame, Singles from the sensor are converted into digital signals through the serial analog-to-digital converter. The digital signals firstly are sampled to memory by the mufti-channel buffered serial port(McBSP) of DSP chip and the digitals spectrum is analyzed by using the Fast Fourier Trourier (FFT) algorithm, then the digital signals are storaged the area which the host can access. Lastly the digital signals are transmitted to Industrial Personal Computer (IPC) by PCI local bus. When the sliver is uneven, the sliver unevenness indexes and the irregularity curve are displayed on the screen. Workers analyze and solute troubles which make the sliver unevenness. So the quality of s1iver is realized and improved.This paper introduces the basic knowledge of the auto-leveler control system and the quality detection, analyzes its importance in the work process. It also analyzes the sliver unevenness indexes and the principle of Fast Fourier Transformation. The paper designs of the hardware of the quality detection system. The digital circuit board mainly consists the following modules: Power management module circuits, it provides DC power supply for various devices; The A/D converter circuit, it is continuously sampling the signals and changing analog signals to digital signals; The DSP module, it executes radar signal processing algorithms, also controls other related devices, communicates with IPC. It also introduces software design of DSP system. The software is developed under the Integrated Development Environment CCS, which aimed at the TI TMS320 Debug Interface standards. Software realizes main process as follows: collect and store signals, abd put sampled data from A/D converter into RAM of DSP chip.It introduces design of program of interfaces between DSP and PCI. The design of the device driver is a very important part. The paper describes the composition of WDM driver patter in the windows 2000 operation system, the tools of device driver and the key techniques in the development device driver based on actual hardware.At last, plenty of experiments were carried out to test the system entirely.
