In this thesis, based on the fully understanding and deeply analyzing the spindle thermal characteristics and error compensation technology and present application condition of the domestic and outside CNC machine, through detailed theoretical analysis, aimed at the key technology (the thermal sensor location optimization) during the research, some new ways of thinking and methods were posed. This thesis is divided into five chapters.Firstly, a survey of the important role of CNC machine tool thermal characteristic research and error compensation was given, and the review of the current status of the research and application of the machine tool error compensation technique was provided. The main contents of this thesis are presented, too.Secondly, the heat theory knowledge and the basic concept of machine tool dynamic process were introduced, and the theory of thermal sensors location optimization in the machine tool was studied. The thermal sensor location optimization was gained by thermal dynamical analysis, study and simulation. Several tactics were put forward for the three dimensions of thermal sensor location on a milling center.Thirdly, based on the chermal characteristic of CNC milling center, a set of heat collected equipment which could test the machine thermal and thermal deformation in real time , and a set of data disposal system was designed.At last, based on the basic theories of calculating temperature field using FEM method, the three dimensions temperature field FEM model of milling center spindel system was built up, and also made an detailed analysis of thermal characteristics for spindle main components(spindle and bearings). The control methods of thermal error compensation control system was mainly introduced, and the advantages and disadvantages of these control methods were compared. Through the compare, the semi closed loop front feedback compensation control system, which is the most correspond to the real condition was gained.The results of this thesis provided theoretical reliance and feasible methods for machine tool company to make spindle test.
