The Evaluation Systematic Index Of Social Vulnerability To Natural Hazards

Vulnerability evaluation of Natural hazards is an important aspect of natural hazards research, and vulnerability evaluation of the society is an important part of it. This thesis is mainly based on the view of the sociology and the supplementary of other correlative theories. With Chongqing Municipality as an instance, the valuation index of social vulnerability to natural hazards is established. The thesis constructs the conceptual model based on the above theories, by comparing the related research and methods, and combines a variety of methods so as to establish a more reasonable and objective evaluate indicators Systematic index. The thesis reveals the social vulnerability in the role of formation process of the natural hazards, and provides the ideas for researching the formation mechanism of natural hazards furtherly.In this thesis, qualitative and quantitative analysises are combined to study the evaluation index of social vulnerability to natural hazards for exploratory research, and the process as follows:1. Based on the interpretation of hazards sociology on hazards, conceptual model is established with the related literature, and their meaning is interpreted, then with the connotation of the concept, the basic framework of evaluation indicators index is initially builded;2. Base on the qualitative research and analysis of conceptual model, the initial evaluation systematic index is built. The thesis discusses the population, social constructure, culture difference and ecologically fragile, then divided the index into 4 categories and 53 indicators with the theories;3. The factor-related method is adopted. In the light of the actual situation in units of the indicators for the screening, finally, filters out 4 indicators because of having same information, and re-constructed Systematic Index;4. With Chongqing as an instance, collect and process the data;5. As the indicators for the unit, study the research methods and the indicator weight. The thesis mainly uses factor and AHP analysis determine the weights between categories, and using software of matlab and spss deal the data. Then applicant GIS technology for a single category of indicators comprehensive evaluation, and show the evaluation results into the geographic space;6. Weights between various are identified with AHP. Then with the use of GIS technology, social vulnerability of natural hazards in Chongqing Municipality is evaluated comprehensively, and the evaluation results are divided into five categories;7. Building Coupling Model. Couple evaluation results and the natural hazards damage module of Chongqing Municipality. According to the level of coupling of system, the credibility of evaluation systematic index is judged;8. Analysis the evaluation result of social vulnerability of natural hazards in Chongqing Municipality and Coupling, and find the advantages and disadvantages of evaluation systematic index of social vulnerability to natural hazards, for improving it;Through this study, I mastered the concept of social vulnerability to natural hazards, and understood the evaluation systematic index furtherly. At the same time, I mastered the new technologies to research the natural hazards.
