Research On Spatial-temporal Pattern Of The Social Vulnerability To Natural Disaster In Jiangsu Province

The social vulnerability to natural disaster is a new perspective on disaster research. Through the formation mechanism of social vulnerability and the role of process research to reveal the causes of natural disasters and potential losses. The social vulnerability to natural disaster has the characteristics of dynamic and spatial.The paper reviews the concept of social vulnerability to natural disasters by the ideological of disaster system at first, and discusses the factors of social vulnerability and its mechanism of action of social vulnerability, then take the cities and counties in Jiangsu Province of social vulnerability to natural disasters as a case research in different time. The main results are as follows:(1)The system of natural disasters is composed of environmental, hazard factor, the social system, and with structural, functional, dynamic and spatial characteristics.(2) The Meaning of social vulnerability including the broad and narrow sense, narrow sense of vulnerability by the population, economy, social structure and social culture of four parts.(3) The impact of social vulnerability factors, including disaster demographic, cultural and other seven elements, and every one has an important role on social vulnerability.(4)Social vulnerability to natural disasters, including the temporal pattern of evaluation index system and determine the index weight of 8 steps.(5)The meteorological disasters is main disaster in jiangsu province and show high frequency, intensity, loss of weight, seasonal, regional, and unexpected features.(6)The time pattern analysis of social vulnerability in jiangsu province, mainly from the vulnerability of the population, economic vulnerability, social structure and social cultural vulnerability of four aspects of a comparative analysis. Finally, the time pattern of the social vulnerability is in a comprehensive analysis. The results show a rise in the reduction, the characteristics of varying magnitudes.(7) Spatial patterns of social vulnerability in jiangsu province include population vulnerability, economic vulnerability, the vulnerability of the social structure, social and cultural vulnerability and comprehensive spatial analysis of social vulnerability. The spatial patterns of the form on maps were characterized in this paper. Finally, changes in spatial patterns of social vulnerability characteristics in jiangsu province were summarized in detail is from north to south by the whole situation.In summary, through the patterns of time and space of social vulnerability to natural disasters in jiangsu province, revealing the social vulnerability of the dynamic characteristics and spatial distribution in jiangsu province. The paper provides a theoretical and empirical basis for the disaster mitigation work in Jiangsu Province.
