The mine elevator is called as the throat of mines, so it is vital equipment in mines. The elevator is the unique path between mines and outside, and it takes on some important responsibilities such as transporting mine stones, materials, personnel and so on. As to elevator, safety and security are vital. For a long time, primitive method is used in the monitor system for the disk-shaped brake of lift machine in coal mine in our country. In the method, two limiting switches are used to control the brake gap and the loss of brake. The method is not accurate enough and a lot of time and energies will be wasted. What's more, there are potential safety problems. With the continuous development of microcomputer technology, a single-chip controlled Electro-hydraulic proportional valve is used to regulate brake gap, and the monitoring system's performances for brake gap of the mine elevator can be improved greatly. And there are a lot of improvements in many aspects such as automation level, security, stability and so on.In the paper, the hydraulic system model of adjusting brake gap, and the simulation model based on PID and adaptive fuzzy PID controller is established by using Simulink of Matlab. It is turned out that the system is feasible. Then a laboratory simulation system of bake control system is designed by using AT89S52 as the core. Furthermore, external hardware circuits are designed, and the software flow chart is given. At last, it is turned out that the system is feasible by debugging and running the system. The system can guarantee the mine elevator run stably and accurately, and the automation control of the elevator's brake gap has been realized.By debugging and running the system, it is turned out that the system can run stably at a high precision of control. Therefore, the system can meet requirements of production.
