As a high speed ,web feed printing technology , flexography is mainly used in package industry ,not only for its' excellent capability for various printing materials , such as paper , plastic films and so on ,but also the water based ink can be applied for printing , in this way , we can improve the eco-friendly capability ,so flexography is a environment friendly printing technology. However, there are some limits for flexography ,the dot gain is considered to be most important factor effecting the printing quality. This research is focused on the influence of shore hardness, engagement and line ruling on printing quality. During the test, different engagement, line ruling are used to measure the physical dot area. The results have shown that the plate shore hardness has the influence on printing quality, and the plate with high shore hardness can print better image than low shore hardness plate. The low-coverage dots at high line rulings can be particularly affected by the effect of variation in the impression pressure. This has significant implications for the ability of the process to reproduce high-resolution images that combine both highlight and shadow regions successfully and consistently.
