Accurately reproducing,communicating and reappearing color have always been an important subject in color printing systems. In printing, gray balance is a method that used to judge the printing colors whether balance or not and it is important to printing. Recent years, flexography rapidly develop in the world, with the development of the economy, the using area of it's printing works gets more and more wide, this requests the printing quality of it to become more and more better. But the technology of flexography in our country is still immature, and is short of standard to reference in printing. So, In order to ensure the quality of printing, researching the standardization of printing technology has actual significance. This article has made the preliminary research to the controlling technique of gray balance with UV ink in flexography.This paper deeply analyzed the main factors which can influence gray balance, and further determined the primary factors through the experiments, if these factors can be controlled, the gray balance will be realized. In the experimental process, uses the densimeter to measuring the data on the printing, and solving the gray balance data according to the gray balance equation and applying the MATLAB language programming to draw gray balance curves; then analyzed the primary factors which can affect the gray balance in flexography through contrasting to the experiments. The result indicates that in flexography the influence to gray balance are mainly induced by dot-gain. Because the main reason which results in dot-gain is printing pressure and anilox roller, therefore, controlling gray balance should mainly select suitable anilox roller and keep a small printing pressure, it have certain instruction significance to the actual printing.
