The soot which contained many higher fullerenes was successfully prepared by the novel experiment method of decomposing aromaticity hydrocarbon in Ar under high temperature. It was extracted by the mixed solvent with 9:1 toluene and absolute alcohol. New pattern material with high refractive (NMHR) can be extracted by the absolute alcohol fractional precipitation, of which the most constituents are higher fullerenes. First,it was characterized in detail by the method of time-of-flight mass Spectrometry, HPLC, FT-IR, XRD, UV-Vis, fluorescence spectrum, TG, et al .The effect of facters as different solutions and the addition of different orgaric amines on the charge transfer characteristic of NMHR were studied. Secondly, NMHR/PS hybrid films were made by solution adulteration. The refractive index was discussed by UV-VIS enveloping, The influence of the content of NMHR in NMHR/PS hybrid films and wavelength on the refracive index was studied.NMHR and its hybrid films with high refractive index will make great sense to the application of the infrared detction system and remote sensing.
