Cutting chatter is a kind of strong self-excited vibration, which is excited by the dynamic cycle period during the cutting process, and the vibration can be kept on.During the cutting process, self-excited vibration not only does harm to the surface quality but also enhance the wear in cutting tool. Cutting even can not be performed if it is very strong. Sometimes in order to avoid cutting chatter or make it weak, cutting parameters have to be cut down. Today the cutting efficiency is only equivalent to half of that of developed countries, and it is a very important factor that the problem of vibration during machining isn't settled well. Here cutting chatter is dealt with an improved cutting tool. The shape of the horizontal tool edge is defined by sharpening the guide way. With increasing the negative rake, the feed-resisting-force is increased, thus the damp is controlled within a certain range, based upon which the shape of active cutting edge is defined. Conventional straight active cutting edge is changed into three-dimensional three-point cutting edge, among which the former two points cut during machining while the latter one support and durability is improved at the meantime. Free-cutting tool is an utility tool that interference of chip removal among the unit tools is coordinated by Stabler, and for an unit tool there is always a triangle consisting of a rake face and a flank that can make cutting power approach minimum value. This is minimum energy principle during machining, which is the design base of free-cutting tool. Longevity of the improved cutting tool service has been confirmed by a series of experiments.
