Our country is a nation that water resources were lacking, with the developmentof society, making the dramatic increase consumption of water. The water of sanitation system occupies a certain proportion of the water consumption and the excretation ofsanitation system is always important treated objects to the environment. Therefore, thedevelopment of new environment-friendly and water-saving equipment have greatsignificance to social development.New Ecology Sanitary Equipment is a fed-batch composting reactor, which usesawdust as a matrix. The feces drop into the reactor to mix with sawdust directly and converted feces to water, carbon dioxide and dry organic fertilizer by aerobicmicroorganisms. The whole process does not need water flush.Compared with thetraditonal toilet, this toilet neither wastes the water resources, nor needs the seweragesystem. Moreover,it inactivate pathogenic microorganisms. Therefore,To study newsanitation facilities have significant purpose.Useing sawdust as a microorganism matrix.Under the conditions of controllingtemperature in the range of 50℃-60℃and the water content in the 50%-60%,thecharacteristics of matrix, and which influence to microorganisms, transformation ofpotassium, nitrogen and phosphorus, humic acid of Infrared structure and effect offertilizers were analysised with the physical, chemical and biological methods. The experiment results as follows:(1)In whole of reaction cycle,TS and Ash are both increasely.TS increased from 0.39g/g to 0.58g/g.TS and Ash increased led to the increasing bulk density anddecreasing porosity steadily. The bulk density increased from 0.052 g/cm3 to 0.137g/cm3.Correspondly,porosity decreased from 92.24% to 89.42 % which are affectedventilation in matrix. In addition, cellulose and hemicellulose have a certain degree ofdegradation.Cellulose, hemicellulose and lignin decreased from 0.437 g/g,0.179g/g and 0.347g/g reduced to 0.423g/g,0.162g/g and 0.344g/g,respectively.To Lignin andthe semi-lignin,the faeces have been effective degradation, but the lignin of matrix arevery difficult degradation in role of microorganisms.(2) In composting process,Characteristics of matrix ar e influenced to microorganic. With increased of bulk density, porosity is decrease to cause ventilationnot enough. Finally, aerobic formers are decrease and amphimicrobe are increase, aerobic formers from 1×109cfu/g decreased to 0.137 g/cm3.Correspondly,amphimicrobe from 92.24% increased to 89.42 %.(3) Nitrogen is important element in compost. In process of composting, neitherdissoval nitrogen nor solid nitrogen,TN and NH4+-N increased from 2.83mg/g to 12.48mg/g and 0.12mg/g to 5.65mg/g,respectively.ON increased from 2.12mg/g to16.35mg/g.(4) To composting samples from humic acid extracted IR analysis,we can see thatpolysaccharides, aliphatic has declined, and aromatic compounds are gradually increasing. In addition, through the phosphorus and potassium test, they have beenincreased in the composting process. At the end of the composting cycle,TN,P2O5 andK2O content are 25.1 g/kg,123.4 g/kg and 2.0g/kg,respectively.These indicate that thenew composting device can be achieved good fertilizer. No offensive odor emitted from the reactor in the whole operation cycle and a good sanitary condition was kept.It can be concluded from these results that the aerobic composting reactor is a feasible method for feces treatment. It can welldecompose the organic matter and accumulate the useful nutrient such as nitrogen atthe sametime. It can function as a good sanitary device as well as composting equipment especially in the area where water-dependant sanitation is difficult topractice.
