The hub bearing is a key part in cars. Its' main function is to sustain the weight of the cars and to offer precision homing for hub driving. The newest hub bearing is hub unit, The hub unit made with precision forging technique , and to choose close forging die. It presents many advantages such as high manufacturing efficiency, stable product quality. The types of hub bearings become more and more various with the rapid development of automobile profession. However the dies of hub bearings are still designed by handwork and made by conventional methods that restrict the application of the precision forming process. With the rapid development of computer numerical simulation of plastic processing, it is a perfect way for the designing of process and production of die aided by Finite Element(FEM) simulation. The rationality of die designing is fully validated by the simulation method during the virtual manufacturing process, and hence decreasing the R&D time of the new product, quickly responding the customer's requirements, tremendously shortening the cycle time and cost of the trial and error test. As a result, the whole economic performance and the comprehensive strength of enterprises are upgrading.This paper has analyzed the structural feature of the hub unit bearing, and carries on the classification according to its structural feature, has completed complex solid three-dimensional modeling of hub unit bearing systematically by using software Pro/e . and has established the technological design flow and method of precision forging of hub unit bearing. In view of the typical hub unit bearing, has simulated the practicality forging process with the finite element analysis software. According to the simulation process's in metal flow situation, based on the converse design idea, to design to the pre-forging model, and has obtained the preferable pre-forging model.Based on the theories of 3-D rigid-viscoplastic FEM; After analyzing the Deformation features of hub bearing during precision forging process and the key design methods of die forging, The research selects typical inner loop of hub unit which is produced to simulate the forging process with the finite element analysis software DEFORM 3D. The results indicate the temperature field, inner stress field, strain field, metal flowing law during the forming procedure. The method can reveal the deformation features of the process, which provides a guidance for the design of the precision forging of hub bearing.
