In our country, a large amount of leachate generated from garbage disposal is the source of the secondary pollution, the effective disposal of the leachate has already become one of the toughest problems nowadays. During the period of garbage embeding and stabilisation, the leachate has a high concentration of the CODCr,BOD5 and NH3—N, which will do a great harm to the environment of the underground water and surface water. The water quality of the leachate is complicated, the organic substance concentration is high and so is the ammonia nitrogen concentration. A great number of researches have been done to the leachate disposal nationally and internationally.At the base of systematicly analyse the formation process,the constitute composition,the water characteristic of domestic leachate and the present condition of the leachate disposal technology nationally and internationally, the high concentration leachate of Erfei Hill garbage treatment plant in Wuhan has been taken as the the research object in this experiment by using UBF technology to deal with the leachate.Taking the filtered surplus sludge granules of UASB system as the seed,adding powdered activated charcoal and pre-treatment of the filling material are all great ways to promote a faster start-up of the UBF system. After the start-up, the loading should be upgraded when the removal rate is up to 70%, and the way to upgrade the loading is both of increasing the concentration of CODCr and enlarging the water amount. In the meantime, the amount of sludge granules is increasing, its activity is enhancing and the biofilm in the upper position of UBF reactor is thickening, then the start-up get completed and take function.The existence of the AF layer make the volume of the UBF reactor functioned utmostly, the ability to accumulate microorganism is get greatly strengthened, and the organic loading of the reactor is become higher, all of which make the UBF reactor has characteristics such as starting up quickly,treating effectively and running smoothly. The removal rate of AF layer can reach 20% to the organic pollutants, but at the low temperature situation, that will get affected and the treating effect changed greatly but still reach average 7.36%. And the experimente also confirmed the influnce of the ammonia nitrogen concentration,water tempreture,pH value and volume loading to the UBF reactor's disposal effect.
