| Drilling process is an important link in the production of American Style furniture. The drilling equipment is in low degree of automation, and the part of manual operation accounts for a great proportion of the whole operation work, therefore the production efficiency is low. This issue chose components, drilled holes of American-style furniture and typical drilling equipment as a subject, conducting the research using work-measurement method. Through statistical collation and analysis of the measured basic time data, results can be made concerning influencing effect of characteristics of components, drilled holes on the work time. By analyzing influencing effects on time cost of various processing modes, drilling equipment and numbers of drilled holes, method to enhance production efficiency of drilling process was put forward, from aspect of saving work time.Through this research, the issue reached the following conclusions:(1)The relation of hole diameter and hole depth to elementary work time (processing time) shows a discrete effect, and the degree varied according to different specific drilling equipment. And the result is the same as to that of component size to auxiliary work time (T2,T4,T6).(2)Along with incessant increase of batch, the falling trend of time cost per component tended to become tempered. When the batch(y)of pending processing component is certain, the most appropriate process times(n)concerning time cost can be determined through the following formula:(3) If only time cost is considered, the processing mode, drilling equipment and number of drilled holes concerning different drilling procedure are related to the batch of pending processing component.(4)The length of component moving distance can affect the value of T2. The longer the distance, the higher the value of T2 is. Adding a height-adjustable table can reduce moving distance and difficulty of moving, together with the time cost of drilling procedure, and operator's degree of fatigue.
