A Study On The Developing And Evolving Programme Of Furniture Style

Furniture was the quintessence of human culture and art for a few thousands years. It deduced programme of human culture with human development, as another annotation of human life, from ancient to the present. Furniture was changed many times, no matter material, technology, shape, structure, coloure and style characteristic, from primitive society to modern furniture of great variety. Many styles were evolved, during the changing and developing, with different era and region. The article studied shaping and development of all kinds furniture style. The results are as following:1 The political view, architecture form, society environment were main factors influencing furniture styles, but each factor has different important level at different period and region.2 The distinct, unified and universal shape were three characteristic of furniture style as other art style.3 There were many varieties in furniture style characteristic and ornament form that included animal, plant, nature shape, artificial shape, human live scene, tools, weapon, But it was different when period and region were different.4 There was individual character of different period and region furniture style. But there was regular pattern. It was'Simple - complicate - Simple'repeated.5 They were contacted between styles besides history background when furniture style was formed. Although furniture styles were mutually independent in period and region or country, a style was influenced by others because that they had widespread common characteristic and great variety connection in history background, divided period, style name, ornament characteristic. New furniture styles formed were main inheritance no matter the dynasty was changed or the territory was increased at the age. And it was spread from district to neighbouring country in the region.6 The modern Chinese style furniture was not only compound unit which included a few thousands Chinese national special characteristics, but also Hi-tech, 'green' and culture.7 The development of modern Chinese style furniture synthesized to do that inherited traditional forming elements, made traditional structure to modernize, made traditional ornament elements to simplify.
