With the development of economy and the multiplication trend of the fashion, the garments made by coated artificial leather are more and more popular. The garments which made from both coated artificial leather fabric and the normal heavy weight fabrics are popular too. Coated artificial leather fabric is one of the new materials developed recently. It is different from the normally used fabrics both appearance and performance. It is necessary to be designed and manufactured in different ways. The coated fabric in clothes areas recently little have been know about and there are some problems during produce the garments. Coated artificial leather fabric was selected as subject to be studied. The characteristics of this fabric are investigated, and the clothing processing performances of this kind of fabric are studied by experiment. The results of the experiment are compared with the normal fabrics in order to give out the principles how to arrange the coated fabric and the general fabrics in one garment. The problem of the needle damage is also studied in this work, compared during clothing assembly. The main fact from which the needle damage can be found as needle, thread and seam types etc. The results of this research are helpful for needle damage control and can provide the good appearance of garment. The tearing and tensile properties of the seam are also studied by experiment in order to find the seam type suitable for coated artificial leather garment sewing and to improve the garment durability. The results of this research can be applied for improving the quality of the coated artificial leather garments. Thus, it is useful for both of manufacturers and customers.
