As the market demand for energy increases have contributed to the rising coal production. At the same time national production safety of coal and the increasing emphasis on the continuous efforts to strengthen supervision, making how to strengthen safety in production and improve the unexpected events in the search and rescue of the trapped efficiency become the focus of attention. In the face of unexpected events, a real-time positioning accuracy of the underground staff was needed prominently.In this paper, the personnel and equipments locating system for mining based on the technology of Wireless Sensor Networks is a new locating system for mining, that filled the gaps of a traditional identification RFID technology in real-time positioning and staff paging; and used the technology of can bus to replace RS485 bus defects in the communication of mining; and research and development of new mobile and fixed nodes to reduce the card leakage rate and increase the communication distance of the nodes, and realized the mining staff paging and real-time positioning, and in the terminal monitoring system positioning software integrated component of GIS technology. This paper first analyzes the research background and achievements of the positioning of mining and wireless sensor networks; then the paper analyzes transmission of electromagnetic waves in the tunnel of coal mine and Proposed based on the received signal strength compared positioning algorithm; at last the paper dissertates positioning system hardware module design and the terminal monitoring system software design.The positioning system in this paper provides complete information of the coal mine production for dealing with the unexpected events, also provide an integrity design to realize underground staff accurate and real-time positioning.
